FAQ’S:
Q: How do I measure to determine if I need a Regular or Wide Stair Barrier?
A: MEASURING FOR BANISTER TO BANISTER (BB):
Measure from the innermost edge of the 1st banister (see arrow marked in Fig. #1) to the innermost edge of the 2nd banister. For staircases measuring 36-42 inches between the banisters, you need a Regular Stair Barrier. For stairs measuring greater than 42 inches, but no wider than 52 inches between the banisters, order a Wide Stair Barrier. If you have volute (curved) banisters where the spindles wrap around the banister, measure from spindle to spindle as seen in Fig. 2.
MEASURING FOR BANISTER TO WALL (BW):
Measure from the wall to the innermost edge of the banister (see arrow marked in Fig. #1). For staircases measuring 36-43 inches between the wall and banister, you need a Regular Stair Barrier. For stairs measuring greater than 43 inches, but no wider than 52 inches between the wall and banister, order a Wide Stair Barrier. If you have volute (curved) banisters where the spindles wrap around the banister, measure from spindle to wall, as seen in Fig. 2.

Q: What if my stairs are not exactly 42” inches or 52” inches?
A: If you have extra fabric you can always wrap around banisters and/or spindles. With the variations in stairs, there is not one process for installation that applies to all homes. With the Stair Barrier you can use the banisters, spindles, multiple spindles and combination of both to install the product. The key is to try multiple options and find the tightest fit that works for your stairs.
Q: Can the Stair Barrier be used outdoors?
A: No, but we will be launching outdoor versions in the coming year.
Q: Can a child lift it and crawl under it, or pull it down?
A: No, not when it is properly installed. The Stair Barrier has internal plastic strut and horizontal webbing that run the width, from buckle to buckle. The combination allows for an extremely tight fit. The lack of a top bar prohibits children from leveraging their body weight to climb over.
Q: How do I clean the Stair Barrier?
A: All Stair Barriers are made of Class 1 Upholstery grade fabric. Cleaning code is “S”, which mean first use a soft brush to loosen dirt and then vacuum the Stair Barrier with an upholstery attachment. For stains, you can use a mild water-free solvent or dry-cleaning products. To clean the entire product, you may dry clean, but remove the Internal Struts prior to cleaning.
Q: What tools are required to install the Stair Barrier?
A: Banister to Banister Stair Barriers require no tools or drilling. Banister to Wall will require the following: hammer, screw driver, stud finder and a level.
Q: Do I need to purchase additional installation kits for the Banister to Wall?
A: No. The installation kit is included with the purchase of the Stair Barrier Banister to Wall. Included in the kit are the following: 8 screws, 8 anchors, 4 spacers (spacers are used if you have molding on the bottom of the wall side), 2 brackets and a rod. The brackets and rod are made of steel and are black.
Q: Is the Stair Barrier lightweight and easy to travel with?
A: Yes. The Stair Barrier is approximately 6 lbs. The Stair Barrier Banister to Banister rolls neatly and there is an option to purchase a travel bag.
Q: How do you access and pass through the stairs?
A: It requires unlatching 3 buckles on one side and rolling the Stair Barrier to the side.
Q: What is the warranty on the product?
A: The Stair Barrier warrants the Stair Barrier to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of original retail sale. This limited warranty is valid only for the first retail consumer and proof of purchase is required.
